YES. EXPIRED NAVISWORKS NWD FILES CAN BE OPENED. HERE’S HOW

One interesting Navisworks feature that you can use is the NWD publish tool: it has a password protection feature (something we’ve bee seeing a lot of people request for Revit families) that can lock NWD files, and there’s an expiry feature where you can set an expiry date. We published that as a Navisworks tip 2 years ago:
However, what if you need to view the models after the files expire? That’s exactly what happen today to my friend Ciarán Farmer, BIM manager at buildBIM, New Zealand.
No one’s building a time machine any time soon, so there’s a very simple and basic trick to get around that: just set your system’s date back!
Easy, isn’t it?
Make sure to disable your internet and to open Navisworks before setting it back and then open your model and you would be good to go.
